THE THREE VALLEYS, THE WORLD'S LARGEST SKI AREA

The 3 Valleys Ski Area is considered to be the biggest in the world, with its 600 km of slopes split across 335 slopes (48 beginners, 135 green slopes, 119 blues and 33 black diamonds) and its total area of 14 000 hectares! The 3 Valleys Area is constantly competing with the "Portes du Soleil" Area for the title of the "Biggest Ski Area in the World". The latter spans two countries: France and Switzerland and contains 650 km of slopes against 3 Valley's 600 km, 288 slopes against 335 and has a smaller total area than that of 3 Valley. Close by is the Vanoise National Park, attached since 1972 to the Italian Grand Paradise National Park. Together, these two cover an area of 1250 square km: the largest piece of protected land in Western Europe.
