Ski hire Sestrière
Ever since it hosted the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, Sestrières has been the most well-known resort in the Italian region of Piedmont. Built by Italian entrepreneurs in 1936, the resort lies in the northern Italian Alps, a 2-hour drive from Turin and only 20 km from the French border. It’s a modern resort, reflected by its two imposing tower blocks and its Olympic village, built upon a sun-drenched plateau.
In the Sestrières ski area, you can get up to an altitude of 2840 metres. This area offers around 200 km of runs, as well as myriad off-piste skiing opportunities with the Val Troncea itineraries. The resort also runs night skiing sessions. It’s worth noting that there’s facilitated access for people with reduced mobility.
The Sestrières resort is linked to the ski area known as the Milky Way (Via Lattea in Italian), meaning it provides access to around 400 km of slopes, that’s 146 runs served by 70 ski lifts. Of these 400 km, 120 are equipped with snow cannons, meaning they have optimal snow cover throughout the season. The ski runs in the Milky Way tend to be on the trickier side, but even so there’s something for everyone. They link up the resorts of Sansicario, Sauze d’Oulx, Clavière, Cesana and Montgenèvre (France).
If downhill skiing is not your forte, you can go snowshoe hiking on marked trails or ski touring on the slope opposite the ski lifts. And when you’re not skiing, you can take advantage of the resort’s open-air ice rink and its bowling alley. In addition to its ski hire shops, the Sestrières resort has numerous bars, restaurants and nightclubs to make your evenings relaxing and enjoyable.
For your ski hire, choose our Skiset shop, which is conveniently located below your accommodation at the foot of the slopes.
